Cosmetic Dentistry
What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of teeth, gums, and smile. It includes procedures like teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping to enhance dental aesthetics. Unlike general dentistry, which addresses oral health and functionality, cosmetic dentistry is primarily elective and aims to create a more attractive smile. Common treatments can correct discoloration, gaps, or misalignment, providing a boost in confidence and overall facial aesthetics.
Our experienced Ridgeland cosmetic dentist—Dr. Kalil Abide—takes a customized approach to enhancing smile aesthetics to ensure every patient leaves our office beaming with confidence.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are hand-crafted porcelain shells that are bonded to your existing cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Porcelain veneers are also used to correct problems with alignment and bite, as well as the shape and length of your teeth, in a matter of hours. At Harmony Dental Care, we are proud to offer the latest technology in porcelain veneers. Our cosmetic dentist, Kalil Abide, D.D.S., and his associates are able to customize the color, shape, size, and texture of your veneers so that they will be virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
Teeth Whitening
Dr. Abide offers the popular and highly effective KöR® Deep Bleaching™ teeth whitening system for his patients’ benefit, as well as at-home treatment that allows patients to whiten their teeth when it is most convenient for them. With the KöR® Deep Bleaching™ system, whitening gel is applied to the teeth. This sets off an oxidation process within the tooth that helps break up both extrinsic and intrinsic stains. Highly effective and convenient, it offers many benefits.
Invisalign®
If you’ve ever wanted to have your teeth straightened but have been turned off by bulky metal braces, then Invisalign® might be a good option for you. Unlike traditional metal braces, the Invisalign® system doesn’t use wires or brackets to align the teeth. Instead, the system uses a series of clear plastic aligners that are designed to gradually move the teeth into their ideal position. In addition to being clear and virtually invisible, the aligners are removable, making chewing, brushing, and flossing much easier than with traditional braces.
Cosmetic Dental Bonding
Dental bonding, like porcelain veneers, offers a quick and pain-free way to conceal chips and cracks in your teeth. Bonding can also make small teeth look more proportionate and help improve misalignments. During dental bonding, Dr. Abide and his team will apply a thin coat of plastic resin over your damaged teeth. Then, the resin material will be shaped and sculpted to match your existing teeth. This process takes only a few minutes and will leave you with a beautiful new smile. Though not as long-lasting as porcelain veneers, dental bonding can endure for years with the proper care.
Cosmetic Tissue Sculpting
Cosmetic tissue sculpting (CTS) is a procedure utilized by Dr. Abide when a person has excessive, insufficient or uneven gum tissue surrounding their teeth. For some people, teeth appear shorter because they are covered up by too much gum. This gum tissue can lead to what we refer to as a “gummy” smile. In this situation, Dr. Abide will perform (CTS) which removes excessive tissue while taking into account the proper tooth proportions that work with your facial structure. This technique allows for a more youthful, lengthier tooth structure to work in harmony with your face. CTS takes one appointment and is very cost effective, providing amazing results while enhancing the symmetry and aesthetics of your entire smile. In other situations, some people have gums that have receded excessively, making the teeth cosmetically unpleasing. This results in the appearance of a “toothy” smile, too long of a tooth making the teeth more susceptible to discomfort caused by hot or cold foods. If this is the case, a different procedure is used to perform a “gum tissue graft”. This procedure gives you back tissue that you have lost over the years, producing a healthy, balanced, and attractive smile.
Smile Makeover
Smile makeovers combine two or more cosmetic dental procedures to help patients improve the aesthetic appearance of their smile. Often combined with restorative dental procedures, these cosmetic enhancements can help patients who are suffering from discolored or stained teeth, cracked or chipped teeth, or even those with gummy smiles achieve their desired smile. During your consultation, Dr. Abide will evaluate your candidacy, discuss the changes and improvements you would like to make to your smile, and recommend a customized treatment plan
